Birth Becomes Her 2020 Image Review - Part One

In college, every other Friday we would have an image critique. We would display our prints for the entire class to see. The room was quiet as each of my classmates walked slowly by the images. Judging. Examining. Experiencing the art. And we were required to offer some sort of feedback, constructive criticism. Sometimes those words stung like daggers to the heart. Other times they lifted me out of a cloud and gave me clarity. ALL of the time, those words were ones that made me push harder, think more critically, create outside of the box, test boundaries and dive deep into my work.

Birth Becomes Her has taken what has historically been an annual ‘competition’ and evolved it to become a comprehensive Image Review. A collection of art where judges are currently spending hours and hours critically evaluating EACH individual image. All of the artists that submitted to this phenomenal collection will receive honest and useful feedback. Feedback that they can use to continue to learn, to expand and create with a newfound inspiration. Not only that, but they have opened the entire collection to the public and invited everyone to revel in the beauty of birth. To vote on their favorite images and share what it was about these images that inspired them.

THIS is community over competition. THIS is about supporting out colleagues and working together to help advance our own careers individually while also normalizing birth as a whole.

While I was blown away by so many of the images in the collection, I wanted to share some of the images that really took my breath away, jumped off the page and spoke to me. If you feel inspired as well, click on the image to dive deeper into each artists portfolio and maybe even chose to follow them on social media.

IT WOULD BE AN HONOR TO DOCUMENT YOUR BIRTH STORY.

Hi Friends! My name is Lindsey Eden. I am a Birth Photographer & Videographer and a Birth & Postpartum Doula serving Denver, Colorado and surrounding areas.

I am social, love connecting with new people, talking birth, laughter and will probably have my camera in hand (or close by) if we meet in person.

This work is my calling. This is my bliss. I would be honored to connect with you and support you along this journey.
