Frequently Asked Questions
Birth Support at Seasons
Do I pay Lindsey Eden or Seasons for this support/documentation?
While the director, Aubre Tompkins, has endorsed this exclusive offering, I am not employed by Seasons Midwifery & Birth Center. I would be your primary contact for all things birth photography, videography and/or doula support and therefore would issue the contract and collect payments under my brand.
How much of a discount am I really getting?
You can see my current services and price list here. The discount for Seasons families is very significant. Birth documentation and support is definitely an investment, I do recognize that. However the memories created are priceless and like a good wine, continue to increase in value and quality with age. I have taken many courses and workshops to understand the physiology of pregnancy, labor and birth. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and a Minor in Art History, top of the line equipment and gear and the ability to support you in a very professional manner. And from a heart space…I honor and respect the sacredness of the birth space.
Wait, are you going to photograph my, you know what?
Personally, I find beauty and magic in all aspects of the birthing experience and therefor feel that documenting it so that you can witness your own power and strength is invaluable. However I FULLY respect the privacy and vulnerability of giving birth and will respect your wishes.
I am nervous about how I will look while in labor…
As a professional photographer, it is my job to document you in the most flattering and respectful way. You may feel like you don’t look your best, but almost all of my clients have shared with me about how stunned they were by their own beauty and power. That is my ultimate goal - to allow you to see yourself the way your birth team sees you.
I am not sure I want my images on social media.
These images are YOURS. I can’t stress that enough. Yes, sharing images allows me to continue marketing and selling my services. I also believe in normalizing birth center births and imagery is a powerful tool to convey that message. But these images are YOURS. This is YOUR birth story. You have complete control over whether you want all, some or none of you images to be shared.
What happens if I have precipitous birth?
If your labor and birth is extremely fast - that is completely out of yours or my control. I will begin support / documentation as soon as possible and will honor the unique details of your special birth story.
And what about if i have to transfer?
One of the things that makes birthing at Seasons so incredible is the fact that they have privileges at the transferring hospital (North Suburban). Like them, I too will continue care and/or documentation if a transfer is necessary.
How do you know when to come to the birth center?
The success of this relationship is heavily dependent upon solid communication. The more information I have, the better I am able to support you. In the last weeks leading up to birth, I ask that you check in weekly at minimum. You will notify me as soon as labor signs begin, regardless of how soft the signs are, and you will keep me updated with progress. I will typically join you when you arrive at the birth center OR when it is determined that you are in active labor.
